My name is Ajene. I am a 31 year old mother, license cosmetologist, youtuber, and entrepreneur. Here's my story. My whole life planned out by the time I was in 7th grade, but unexpectedly at the age of 16 I became a mother to a beautiful baby girl. So, therefore my plans had to change and she became my motivation. I always wanted to be a hair stylist and a lawyer. Becoming a mother I decided to attend beauty school and chose not to attend law school. I started styling hair at the age of 10. My new plan would include starting my own business and becoming my own boss. I graduated from John Jay Beauty School in 2012. Shortly after graduating I was diagnosed with Lupus and fibromyalgia at the age of 23, which is a chronic disease and a disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain. It changed life as I knew it and I am now considered disabled, with so many bumps and lumps in the road I refuse to give up. I am a single mother of 3 beautiful children and they are depending on me. Hair, beauty, and makeup has always and will always be my calling. Instead of completely giving it all up, I have participated in many business ventures in the beauty industry. I made the decision to start making hair products because Lupus causes my hair to fall out, it also makes my hair very brittle which is unhealthy. While brainstorming, I did some research, applied my professional skills and BOOM HAIR CANDY was created.
